I made the decision to return to school after 20 years
of being an entrepreneur and working in the Real Estate industry. I have always
enjoyed my work and independence and never dreamed of going back to school,
that is until the market tanked and continued to spiral out of control. That's
when I decided I should have a back up plan and look toward my future. So I
begin to look into other career opportunities that would be suitable for me and
I mapped out a plan to go back to community college to complete my degree that
I started and never finished. It took me two semesters to complete the degree
program and transfer to ASU. I'm so glad I made the decision to
go back, because I enjoy school immensely! I have always enjoyed
learning new things and my major fits my passion and understanding.
It is never too late to go back to college, and it is anybody's dream to pursue that education regardless of how old they are. Four years ago was when I started my junior college in California after coming back from spending six months in Europe. I promised myself that turning 40 will be my turning point, and that was exactly the decision I made to go back to college. I had worked in the corporate world for almost twenty years with no regret, however the only problem I had was when the promotions were given to those who had spent four or more years to obtain that piece of paper. I am getting close in couple of months to receiving that degree with a continuation for my master's degree, and now more than ever to go all the way to my PhD.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for you though? Are you student at the WP Carey School of Business? Please let me know.
Having a back up plan, especially in today's world, is an extremely smart step to take. Age doesn't matter, especially when your goal is to better your future. Having multiple family members in the real estate business, i can only imagine the hit you took when the market tanked. God forbid when that happens again you will have taken the proper precautions to secure yourself/ family. Learning is fun when it's something your passionate about. Good luck in your future endeavors!
